How to cancel Apple subscriptions on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Windows
Step by step for every device, plus what to do when there is no cancel button or the subscription is missing from your list.
To cancel an Apple subscription on iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose the subscription and tap Cancel Subscription. On a Mac it’s in the App Store under your name, on Apple TV it’s in Settings, and on a Windows PC it’s in the Apple Music or Apple TV app. If there’s no Cancel button, the subscription is already cancelled and the screen shows the date it ends.

What counts as an Apple subscription
An Apple subscription is anything Apple bills you for on a schedule: Apple’s own services, such as Apple Music or Apple TV, and subscriptions you started inside apps you downloaded from the App Store. They all show on your statement as APPLE.COM/BILL, and several purchases can be grouped into a single charge.
They also all live in one list, attached to your Apple Account. Cancel on any device signed in to that account and it’s cancelled everywhere. What you can’t do from that list is cancel something billed by another company, such as a plan you pay for on a website or through your phone network. If a charge doesn’t match anything Apple shows you, here’s how to identify it.
Where to cancel on each device
| Device | Where to go |
|---|---|
| iPhone or iPad | Settings › your name › Subscriptions |
| Mac | App Store › your name › your name again › Subscriptions |
| Apple TV | Settings › Profiles and Accounts › your profile › Subscriptions |
| Windows PC | Apple Music or Apple TV app › your name › View My Account › Subscriptions › Manage |
| Android | Google Play, if it bills you; otherwise account.apple.com |
| Any browser | account.apple.com, Subscriptions |
How to cancel a subscription on iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap the subscription you want to cancel.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down to see it.
- Confirm, then check the screen: it should now show the date the subscription ends.
Apple Vision Pro works the same way: Settings, your name, Subscriptions.
Apple recommends cancelling at least 24 hours before a free trial ends if you don’t want it to renew. Some apps end trial access as soon as you cancel, so read the screen before you confirm. More in how to stop free trials from charging you.
How to cancel an Apple subscription on a Mac
- Open the App Store.
- Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. If you see Sign In instead, sign in with your Apple Account.
- On the page that opens, click your name again. You may be asked to sign in.
- Click Subscriptions, then the subscription.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
How to cancel a subscription on Apple TV
- Open Settings on your Apple TV.
- Go to Profiles and Accounts (called Users and Accounts on older versions of tvOS).
- Choose the profile whose Apple Account holds the subscription, then Subscriptions.
- Choose the subscription and follow the steps on screen to cancel it.
The profile has to be signed in to an Apple Account. If the subscription isn’t there, it may belong to another profile in your home.
How to cancel on a Windows PC
- Open the Apple Music or Apple TV app.
- Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then View My Account. You may need to sign in.
- Scroll to Settings. Next to Subscriptions, click Manage.
- Find the subscription and click Edit, then Cancel Subscription.
Still using iTunes for Windows? Choose Account, then View My Account, and follow steps 3 and 4.
On Android or in a browser
If you subscribed to Apple Music or Apple TV on an Android phone and Google Play bills you, cancel in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions. If Apple bills you, go to account.apple.com in any browser, sign in and open Subscriptions. The browser route also works when you don’t have an Apple device to hand.
What if there’s no Cancel button?
Apple says that if there’s no Cancel button, or you see an expiry message in red, the subscription is already cancelled. It won’t renew, and you keep access until the date shown. Nothing else to do, except checking that the charge doesn’t appear on your next statement.
Can’t find the subscription in the list?
This is the most common problem, and it almost always has one of five causes.
- Search your email for “receipt from Apple” or “invoice from Apple” and find the receipt for the amount you were charged.
- Check which Apple Account is on the receipt. If it’s an old or second account, sign in with that one and cancel there.
- If it’s a family member’s account, ask them to cancel. Apple doesn’t let you cancel a family member’s subscription, even if you pay for it through Family Sharing.
- If there’s no receipt from Apple, another company bills you. Check your statement for the name and cancel with them, for example on their website or through PayPal.
- If it came with your phone or broadband plan, cancel with that provider.
After you cancel: access, refunds and a quick check
You normally keep using the subscription until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Cancelling doesn’t refund the current period, but if a renewal you didn’t want has just gone through, you can ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Choose I’d like to, then Request a refund, pick a reason and the subscription. This guide covers refunds from Apple and everyone else.
In Germany, Israel, South Africa and Türkiye, Apple has additional cancellation rules, described on its support page for those countries.
Worked example: what forgotten App Store subscriptions cost
Small App Store plans are easy to lose track of because they all arrive as one line from Apple. Here’s what three of them add up to over a year.
Three App Store subscriptions over a year
Cancelled a day before renewal, each costs nothing more. Missed by a day, the language app takes its full €59.99 at once.
Stop forgetting Apple renewals
The Subscriptions list in Settings tells you what’s active, but it won’t remind you before something renews, and it can’t show plans billed anywhere else. A short list of everything you pay for, with a reminder a few days before each renewal, closes both gaps.
If you’d rather not type them in, drop a bank statement PDF or CSV into Billbase and review the subscriptions it finds before anything is saved. Billbase never logs in to your Apple Account and never cancels for you: it makes sure you know in time. For subscriptions outside Apple, see how to cancel any subscription you forgot about.
Frequently asked questions
Does deleting an app cancel the Apple subscription?
No. Deleting the app leaves the subscription running. Cancel it in Settings, your name, Subscriptions, or on any other device signed in to the same Apple Account.
Why is there no Cancel button on my Apple subscription?
Apple says that means it’s already cancelled. It won’t renew, and the screen shows the date your access ends.
Can I cancel a family member’s Apple subscription?
No. Apple doesn’t let you cancel a family member’s subscription, even through Family Sharing. Ask them to cancel it on their own device or Apple Account.
Do I lose access as soon as I cancel?
Normally you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. During a free trial, some apps end access when you cancel, so check the screen before you confirm.
How do I cancel an Apple subscription without an Apple device?
Go to account.apple.com in any browser, sign in with your Apple Account and open Subscriptions. If Google Play bills you, cancel in the Google Play app instead.
